This month we will be teaching the children about autumn and the changes autumn brings to our environment and lives. We will be watching the leaves falling from the trees and using them in our art and craft activities. The children will also be learning about the following:
World Habitat Day: World Habitat Day reflects on the state of towns and cities and the basic human right to adequate shelter. The children will be looking at the different kinds of homes they live in and that people inhabit around the world.
The Big Draw Festival: An annual, worldwide celebration of drawing that takes place from 1st – 31st October, the children will be creating various works of art which will be displayed at our art show at the end of October.
Harvest Festival: We will be celebrating the festival by teaching the children about how food is harvested and why food is important. We will teach children old enough to understand how fortunate we are to have high-quality affordable food available to us.
World Food Day: A day to promote healthy diets and eradicate hunger issues by 2030, the children will taste some different types of food from around the world.
Halloween: Halloween is a fun time at The Corner House when we decorate the nursery, enjoy lots of spooky themed activities and have a week of dressing up in our spooky outfits. We will be holding a Halloween party on Friday 29th October!
