Partnership with Parents

Settling in Sessions

We offer a free settling in procedure of 2 x 2 hour sessions to allow your child to settle into the nursery and for parents and children to become acquainted with their key person who will introduce you to room staff, explain the system of the nursery and answer any questions. Your child's key person will also discuss your child's development and support planning for their next steps and their individual needs.

Open Door policy

We provide an open door policy whereby a parent/carer can discuss any aspect of their child’s care or development at any time.

Parent/Staff meetings

The nursery encourages parental involvement from day one to ensure we cover your childrens needs through two planned open/social evenings to encourage good relationships between parents and staff, allowing some parents to also get to know each other, this enables children to socialise outside the nursery.

At the planned open evenings to discuss your child’s progress you will have the opportunity to discuss with your child’s key person the next steps in their development.

We also encourage parents to share their professional skills with the children. Outings to the park and beach in the summer are also an additional time for parents and staff to interact in an enjoyable way.

Regular newsletters and monthly activity sheets to take home are available to support learning at home.

eyLog – The Early Years Log

We have now introduced eyLog, an online digital reporting system, to record the development of our children and inform next steps for practitioners and parents. This enables parents to have fully up to date access to their childs learning journal. Parents can log on and see their child in a current daily video shot! We have a secure tablet in each room to take video, audio and still. This has now become a firm favourite with our parents.

We also liaise with other professionals related to a child’s development as well as professionals in the community, eg. Police and Fire Brigade etc.
